The first step is to allow enough time for the frozen turkey to cook. Ensure the oven is preheated to 325 degrees. Remember that it takes 50% more time to cook a frozen turkey than one that has been fully thawed. A frozen turkey that weighs between 12 and 15 pounds will take anywhere from five to five and a half hours to cook. Because any roasting time is approximate, check the turkey often towards the end of the cooking time. Use a meat thermometer to check the turkey. The turkey is considered to be done when the thermometer reaches 165 degrees when checked at the innermost part of the thigh and wing or the thickest part of the breast.

Once the turkey has cooked for three hours, it is possible to season the bird and add vegetables or fruit to the cavity. Procedure to Cook a Frozen Turkey
Place the frozen turkey in a shallow roasting pan. A pan that has high sides will protect the bird from the oven heat and can result in uneven cooking. It is also recommended that an oven cooking bag is not used when cooking a frozen turkey as additional liquid will pool in the bag. If the bag is opened during cooking to remove the giblets, scalding can occur. Along with the turkey [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], place a little chicken stock in the bottom. This ensures that the turkey will stay moist and the fat does not burn. Replenish this liquid as needed throughout the cooking process. A frozen turkey should never be smoked, grilled, deep fat fried or microwaved as these methods will not cook the meat evenly.

While this method does result in a much moister turkey, it does lose flavor. Seasoning a fully thawed bird allows the flavorings of the marinade or brine to seep into the meat. Ensuring that the bird is seasoned while it is cooking can minimize this deficiency.
