But what is the tale of the Annunaki about and is there a thread of truth to be found in it at all? Let us see. After arriving on earth many thousands of years ago, the Annunaki (some believe them to be a reptilian race) kept on coming, spaceship after spaceship, apparently wanting to mine gold in order to repair their own planet's atmosphere. The Annunaki allegedly lived on a planet called Nibiru which many believe to be the elusive Planet X. Such is the interest and growing worry about Planet X or Nibiru that NASA have actually dedicated a page to putting people's minds at rest (because of course the Annunaki story would not be quite so exciting if we weren't all told that Nibiru is going to crash into the earth in 2012 - Agh!) . "The story started with claims that Nibiru, a supposed planet discovered by the Sumerians, is headed toward Earth," writes NASA. "This catastrophe was initially predicted for May 2003, but when nothing happened the doomsday date was moved forward to December 2012. Hmm, well I for one am not ready to give up on the Annunaki story quite as easily as that. I mean, I would quite like to have Annunaki ancestors - it would always give me something interesting to talk about at dinner parties. By 400,000 BC the Annunaki are supposed to have created several settlements on earth and made themselves quite comfortable. By 300,000 BC (and this is my favourite bit) they have genetically modified the ape man that was lounging around on earth at the time by taking some of their Annunaki DNA and crossing it with Ape man DNA, thus creating Homo Sapiens. But of course, why did we not realise earlier that the missing link in the Darwinian evolution theory was a reptilian alien race? Movements such as Scientology are alleged to have some beliefs lying around in the Annunaki side of things.
The Revenge of the Annunaki
The tale of the Annunaki, an alien race who landed on earth about 445 puma future cat,000 years ago to extract gold, is fast becoming the stuff of internet legend. The story has all the best components of a good conspiracy theory, with bucketfuls of mystery and intrigue, and has fast intertwined itself around other internet fascinations such as Planet X.

Over the next several thousand years (after the floods presumably) the Annunaki Enki's descendants begin to populate the earth. By 3700 BC mankind has been granted power and kingship and taught how to rule themselves. And so on and so on.

So anyway, after they had created humans, the Annunaki and the Homo Sapiens go through a glacial period and by 100,000 BC when things are thawing again, the Annunaki elders notice to their shock and horror that some Annunaki young men are marrying human girls! So by 75,000 BC a couple of the original Annunaki earth settlers are plotting mankind's demise. Cleverly, realising that as Nibiru swings round towards earth on its 3600 year orbit, the close proximity between it and earth will cause an immense tidal wave and kill everyone. (This is apparently where Noah comes in, according to some). So the Annunaki plotters don't tell anyone about this but in 11,000 the Annunaki called Enki can't keep it to himself and tells Noah to build a big ship. The next bit has been quite well documented. Lo and behold a deluge sweeps across the earth and the Annunaki supposedly watch it all from their spaceship. (Laughing?)
