It is certainly a challenge, and Wainwright delivers with a complicated retelling. <br />David Nicholls transforms Venice into a regional news room, with Beatrice (Sarah Parish) and Benedick (Damien Lewis) battling it out behind (and occasionally in front of) the camera as co-presenters. The transition strangely works, with hopeless lovers Hero (Billie Piper) and Claude (Tom Ellis) recast as weather girl and sports presenter. The chemistry between Parish and Lewis is utterly believable, while the rest of the cast look like they&rsquo;re having a ball with a script that truly sparkles. <br />Read on <br />Shakespeare Stories for Children - A Review <br />Introduce Children to Shakespeare <br />Book Review - Usborne Stories from Shakespeare <br />The comedy has its moments of inspiration <a href="http://www.airmaxsneakers.net/nike-air-max-skyline" target="_blank" class="postlink">Air Max Skyline</a>, particularly in developing Hermia&rsquo;s parents Theo (Bill Paterson) and Po <br />Of all Shakespeare&rsquo;s plays, <span style="font-style: italic">Much Ado </span>stands out as one of the most accessible in terms of language in the &lsquo;merry war&rsquo; of Beatrice and Benedick. Even teenagers reading Shakespeare against their will can&rsquo;t help but laugh at the witty diatribes exchanged between the couple who love to hate each other. <br />BBC&rsquo;s <span style="font-style: italic">Shakespeare Retold</span> is an inspired concept; especially given the Bard himself borrowed plotlines from writers before him. Although the task of bringing Shakespeare to the 21st century must have seemed a daunting one to the writers, the resulting series speaks for itself. <br />Anyone who&rsquo;s watched Gordon Ramsey&rsquo;s Kitchen Nightmares can acknowledge the passion of chefs in the kitchen, and Moffat even provides an amusing reference to the superstition surrounding &lsquo;the Scottish chef&rsquo; similar to the bad luck associated with Macbeth&rsquo;s name for actors. McAvoy (maintaining his Scottish accent) is ably supported by a mesmerising Keeley Hawes as Lady Macbeth crumbling before your eyes. <br />Katherine (Shirley Henderson), &lsquo;the shrew&rsquo;, is an MP who is told she must marry to make herself more appealing to voters. The role of husband is filled by impoverished aristocrat and cross-dresser Petruchio (Rufus Sewell), and what could potentially become a very nasty tale of mistreating a woman until she is &lsquo;tamed&rsquo; is instead a funny and oddly sweet story of learning to love each other in the style of a silver-screen screwball comedy. The chemistry between Henderson and Sewell helps, and though the ending is a little weak, Wainwright successfully retells a contentious and controversial play. <br /><span style="font-style: italic">Macbeth </span>has probably the best cast <a href="http://www.airmaxsneakers.net/nike-air-max-tn" target="_blank" class="postlink">air max turbulence</a>, including an endearing performance by James McAvoy on the brink of becoming one of the biggest British actors of his generation. Peter Moffat retells the only tragedy in the series with style, substituting war torn Scotland for the heat of a Michelin star restaurant, where Chef Joe Macbeth is told by three bin men that he will become head of the business. <br />A Midsummer Night&rsquo;s Dream <br />The Taming of the Shrew <br />Macbeth <br />Much Ado about Nothing <br />Despite the fact <span style="font-style: italic">A Midsummer Night&rsquo;s Dream </span>is the bard&rsquo;s most loved comedy, it was always going to be hard to modernise a story about fairies. Peter Bowker&rsquo;s outcome works, but not nearly as well as the other tales. Athens becomes Dream Park, where an unhappily engaged Hermia (Zoe Tapper) leaves her party to run off with her lover Xander (Rupert Evans). This leads to the fairy world stepping in to help <a href="http://www.airmaxsneakers.net/nike-air-max-97" target="_blank" class="postlink">air max 97</a>, with expected complications for all involved.</span></td> </tr> </table></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" height="1" class="spaceRow"><img src="http://picsrv.fora.pl/subSilver/images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="1" height="1" /></td> </tr> </table>
