He died in 1280 from an illness and was Declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope Pius XI in 1931, being considered one of the greatest minds in the medieval Albert the Great’s Written Works[/b]
The Universal Doctor, St. Albert the Great, was a profoundly intelligent man who wrote about every possible field of science. Because of this, he is also the Patron Saint of Scientists. It was his profound ability to utilize the sciences,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which he so loved, and blend them with the teachings of the church which granted him his charism as ‘Universal.’
Named as head of the university in Paris in Cologne, he taught the great Thomas Aquinas. They became close friends until St. Thomas Aquinas died in 1274. He had a profound knowledge of the sciences of the time: logic, metaphysics, math, the Bible and Theology. He is credited for creating what is now called The Scholastic Method.
