The desire to find a place to belong, to find your place in the universe, and the comfort of going back home are all themes that flow through this album. During "Thumbelina [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," you feel that the road is the most important place to be, and that it's a great idea to leave the Midwest behind, such as Hynde's hometown in Ohio, and make it to the warmth of the desert as suggested by Tucson, Arizona.
Even though this album was released over 25 years ago, it feels as if lead singer Chrissie Hynde could be one of the many girls you meet along the road in life--just another girl trying to find her place in the world. Her deep voice leads you to a place that is a bit further and darker than you'd like to go, but you feel you need to be. Sort of like a dark pub at the end of a street you know you shouldn't be going to alone, but you can feel something drawing you there.
