There are so many places to eat great food in Key West, the choices are abundant. One of the undisputed favorites, Blue Heaven, has good reason to boast; great food with island flavors, a relaxed outdoor atmosphere, live music and the ubiquitous roosters who live off the delicacies that fall to the brick patio floor.
From the uber-relaxed Fish Wagon's ramshackle entrance to the sweet and savory, diminutive La Creperie, tourists can be as relaxed or highbrow as their budget allows.

For more Key West flavors, feel free to enjoy these:
Sit at the bar and chat with the chef, she'll seduce you into trying a sweet treat even if intentions were to stay on the savory side [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hoping to keep calories at bay. Forget that for a moment and let the taste buds rejoice.
Don't forget to order the famous Blue Heaven Rum Punch made with coconut rum, banana rum, pineapple rum and a splash of Key Lime juice. A slow, meandering walk back to the B & B should render a tourist sleepy enough to behave and lie quietly in the sun for a bit.
Located at 300 Petronia Street, a hop-skip-and-a-jump from Blue Heaven, this sweet little spot called La Creperie will be a repeat stop, most certainly, most definitely! Try everything in this delectable eatery. Whether it's savory or sweet, the crepe will be one of the finest ever tried this side of the river Seine.

Even with the summer temperature at its highest and most humid, Blue Heaven's immense fans constantly swirl under the shade trees to take down the summer boil.
Aside from the history, this restaurant serves unforgettable food. When Neil, a favorite waiter, described the Lobster Benedict with Key Lime Hollandaise Sauce as "a meal so good you'll want to smoke a cigarette afterward", this author had to try it. Neil, just gotta say it [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "Where's that lighter?"
Known for its delicious fried grouper sandwich (square, to be sure) and low key attitude, offers a little island respite; a nice way to decompress. The ancient, broken-down truck in the entrance way is really just an overgrown planter, perfect for subtropical flowers and their weedy cousins.
From the moment a patron steps warily into the dilapidated-looking restaurant at 801 Caroline Street, his nose knows. From local fried or grilled fish, large portions of sweet potato wedges and cole slaw, plenty of beer choices, reminds tourists to slow down and rest in the midday sun.

A decided favorite among locals and tourists alike, Blue Heaven, located at 729 Thomas Street, has a gracious outdoor bar and patio, live music and a choice brunch under huge shade trees, complete with a rope swing and robust roosters.
According to the Blue Heaven website, this century old building and "rambling courtyard were home to gambling, prostitution, cockfighting and boxing matches refereed by Ernest Hemingway. A dance hall, a bordello, a gallery and a playhouse have occupied the second floor. Today [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], one can still look through the sliding peep holes into the small rooms."
