There have been numerous claims made over the years of similar discoveries concerning the biblical boat, all of which have fallen well short of credible. That proof could then lead to the assumption the new testament is therefore also accurate and that proof could then be taken as an affirmation of their faith. While there is some validity to these statements, finding the Ark would actually only prove a set number of facts. First, it would show at some point in the past man built a large boat. Secondly, this boat somehow managed to find its way 13,000+ feet up a mountain. Beyond that, very little of the biblical account could be proven. The discovery of an ancient wooden boat 13,000 feet up a mountainside would in itself offer enough questions to keep scientist busy for decades.
A member of a rival team also searching for the Ark claims the wood was transported to the mountain top from the area of the Black Sea and the entire find is a fake. These claims should be easily verified or found false when the site is examined by additional archeologist and geologist.
