The top 10 girls' names list has remained fairly constant over the past several years. In 2007, the most common name for girls was "Emily," followed by "Isabella" and "Emma." In 2008, the most popular name was "Emma," with "Isabella" in the number two spot and "Emily" in the number three spot.
"Emma" has been among the Social Security Administration's top 10 most common names for girls since 2002. In 1992, it was the 104th most popular name and in 1982, it was in the 411th position.
